Recesssioned | Celebrities Stoop to New Lows During Downturn

ABC's latest Celebrity slideshow is really enlightening as to how bad things have gotten for celebrities. For example, did you know that Paris Hilton used to get $50,000 for appearing at a fashion show but now she will settle for $5,000, airfare, and hotel accommodation (this last part makes no sense to me. Doesn't her last name alone guarantee a lifetime worth of hotel accommodation? Or does that mean that Paris Hilton is too good for Hilton Hotels, and if so, shouldn't the Hilton Hotel's PR have a word with her?). I must know nothing about fashion because I think that if I was a designer I would probably pay to have Paris keep out, but maybe that's just me.

Beyond that however, it's become clearer and clearer that the financial market crashed so that people could have some sense knocked into them. Other highlights include Queen Elizabeth wearing fabric that is over 20 years ago (my word!) and the star of Private Practice drinking tap water (disgusting). Come on now! Have some self-respect. Even I don't do that! Celebrities, they're nothing like us...

Although on the radio this morning i heard that the bikini girl from American Idol commands 10K for club appearances. Wearing a bikini, of course.
